Autopsy
Overview
The autopsy section provides hospital-based autopsy service for the BJC system, collaborating with the Office of Decedent Affairs to support our physicians and patients. Moreover, autopsy service is one of the cornerstones for our anatomic pathology residency training. Rotating through this service, our trainees hone in their diagnostic skills in both gross and microscopic examinations and excel in clinical-pathological correlation.
Our mission is to provide comprehensive clinical-pathological correlation and consultation for BJC/WashU physicians to ensure long-term quality assurance and improvement. Additionally, we aim to offer essential medical information to the decedent’s family members. We strive to cultivate and foster a multidisciplinary culture and approach, encompassing clinical practice and biomedical research, to advance medicine and educate future leaders in pathology.
